FABULOUS JOHN TAYLOR CARVED SCOTTISH DISPLAY VANITY WITH CANDLE HOLDERS: Palatial giltwood framed mirror atop a marble-top, carved & gilt console bench made by John Taylor & Son, Edinburgh (1825-1945); regarded as the best cabinetmakers of Victorian Scotland. The mirror framed in exuberant gilt gesso & wood frame having a scrolling floral motif with beadwork. The framework includes a small pedestal at each side for a large candle. Resting on a marble-top bench having profusely gilt relief panels and trim in acanthus, urn, floral, and beadwork motifs. Label verso from John Taylor & Sons Furniture and Upholstery, Edinburgh. Overall measuring approx. 95'' h x 80'' w x 17'' d.
CONDITION: Wear commensurate with age and use including small bits of cracked gesso & loss at the frame.
