Receipt has been backed with period paper. 2nd receipt dated 1838 for 2 negroes one woman and one boy. Top edge or receipt glued to back board. Both receipts in one frame. Also included in second frame is 1864 $10 Richmond Confederate note and unused 1864 dated Confederate bond. Frames measure 16 3/4'' x 14 1/4''.

221 Click for larger picture 1883-1887 BROOKLYN NEW YORK FIREHOUSE LOG BOOK, ENGINE CO. 18: Log book from the original fire house location at 112 Siegel Street in Brooklyn. Detail list of the comings and goings of the firemen, calls and maintenance. Engine company 18 was founded in 1877 and eventually became Engine Co. 218. Log book is scattered on dates with months of June & December in various years and other dates as well. Cover has separated, pages show some foxing but very legible. Measures 14'' x 8 1/2''.

Crude workmanship indicates custom creation. Walnut grip. Action works fine. Note overall condition with dark age, minor surface pitting around nipple. Barrel measures 7'', overall 11 1/2'' long. Comes with 1854 dated powder horn inscribed ''ASA SMYTH HIS HORN 1854''. Note chip, no stopper.
