FOURATT, Bernice, (American, 1916-1988): California Seascape, OIL/Canvas, 18'' x 24'', signed, encased in silver gilt frame, 24'' x 30''. Bernice M. Fouratt, impressionist painter, was born on July 28, 1916 in Berkeley, California. She studied at the Academy of Advertising Arts in San Francisco. After moving to the Monterey Peninsula she continued her fine art studies with several prominent area artists, and at the Carmel Art Institute. Fouratt was a long time member of the Carmel Art Association, and exhibited widely on the Peninsula, and throughout Northern California. She was an award winner at the Santa Cruz Statewide Art Exhibition. She also exhibited at the Carmel Art Association Gallery (Carmel's oldest Gallery), and at Fouratt Realty Gallery in Carmel.
